Palak Chapathi

Palak Chapathi

Spinach / Palak is Rich in Vitamin A, B, C and D and has good fiber in it.
I always love to add Spinach in my meals, either by just giving tadka to it, or by adding this in other recipes.
If i don't get time to make Spinach desperately, sometime i just add them in Sambar also. End of the day All I need is, giving Nutrition to my loved ones.

It is difficult to make the kids to eat what is healthy and good. Especially the vegetables. My daughter was troubling me when i make her eat spinach and eggs. She was totally attached to my mother from her birth and suddenly few months back when i started taking care of her all by my own,  i had no clue what to do with her meal.. For each and everything i had to call my mom, When once I discussed with my mom about Spinach , she shared me the techniques which she used to apply on my daughter. I came to know that my daughter is a variety freak  :) she needs colors and shapes with  taste... :)

From then i am adding spinach to chapathi, dosa, and idlys than giving it just with tadka...  That is a cool idea. isn't it?

Ok lets get into the Palak Chapathi recipe. The quantity given here makes about 8-10 chapathi's

Wheat flour - 1 cup
salt as per taste

to grind A:
Spinach - 1/2 a bunch (or the ground spinach must be 1/2 a cup)
cumin seeds - 1/2 tea spoon
omam seeds - 1/2 tea spoon
Garam masala - 1/2 a tea spoon
salt as per taste

To grind B
Garlic - 2 cloves
ginger - 1/2 inch piece
green chili - 1 (small)
Pudina leaves - a few (optional)

Procedure:

1. First Grind the ingredients listed in B coarsely and keep aside.
2. Then grind spinach,(if required add a tea spoon of water to get a smooth paste), then add the remaining ingredients given in A and grind for a second

3.Mix the Wheat flour with the coarsely ground ginger garlic paste
4.Then add the spinach mix to the flour little by little and make soft dough.
5. add a tea spoon of oil to it, knead well and keep aside by covering it by a lid for 15-30 mins to have the dough absorb with the ingredients

6. Take a small portion of dough and press it to a chapathi.
7.pre-heat the tawa and cook both the sides of chapathi

spread some butter on it and serve as it is, or best to go with Raitha or curd
